5G phones accounted for 46.3% of China's mobile phone shipments in May, data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) today showed.
In May, China's overall mobile phone shipment was 33.759 million units, down 11.8% year-on-year. From January to May, China's total mobile phone shipment totaled 124 million units, down 18.0% year-on-year.
In May, 32 new devices were launched, down 22 percent year-on-year. From January to May, the total number of newly launched models totaled 169, down 18.8% year-on-year.
In May, 15.643 million 5G mobile phones were shipped in China, accounting for 46.3% of the total number of mobile phones shipped in the same month.
From January to May, the cumulative shipment of 5G mobile phones in the Chinese market totaled 46.084 million units, and the cumulative number of new models on the market totaled 81.
