China sees first anniversary of 5G commercial licensing

It has been a year since June 6 last year, when the commercial license for 5G in China was issued.

In the past year, we've experienced the 5G concept go from unfamiliar to familiar, 5G base stations go from few to many, and 5G phones go from expensive to cheap.

While 5G was only just commercially available last year, what many people may not know is that China's first 5G base station was opened back in 2017.

The opening of China's first 5G base station in Guangzhou University City on 24 June 2017.

China's first 5G call made in Guangzhou on 2 April 2018.

On June 6, 2019, China's 5G commercial license was officially issued, and 5G began to come into view and became a hot topic of concern for the entire society.

5 August 2019, when China's first 5G handset went on sale, the same day that the country's first 5G user was born.

As of May 2020, China has more than 250,000 5G base stations, more than 50 million 5G users, more than 60 new 5G handsets released, and more than 30 million 5G handsets shipped in China.

Fastest 5G speed - 4.7Gbps

In May 2020, Nokia will use 800MHz of commercial millimeter wave 5G spectrum and dual connectivity (EN (-DC) feature, tested with base station equipment deployed in commercial networks of major U.S. carriers, achieved 5G speeds of 4.7 Gbps, a world record for the fastest 5G speeds to date. 5G speeds of 4.7 Gbps, the world's fastest 5G network speed to date.

The saddest 5G rumor of all - 5G radiation is bad for you

"5G base stations are denser, more powerful, and emit more radiation, which can cause serious harm to the human body."

Rumors such as these come with the 5G commercialization, and there are even people using experts to spread articles in their friends' circles about how radiation from 5G base stations can be harmful to the human body.

In fact, the more base stations there are, the less electromagnetic radiation there will be between the phone and the base station, and the 5G base station radiation is not as great as that of home appliances.

Using 5G to deal with epidemics

In February 2020, during the epidemic, CCTV 5G broadcast the construction of Leishen Mountain Hospital live, attracting 90 million peak viewers.

On the afternoon of Feb. 27, experts joined together to treat patients at Leishen Mountain Hospital via the "5G Remote CT Collaboration Platform."

In the space of a year, we've seen an overwhelming advertising campaign for 5G, and it's becoming a standard feature on new phones.

There's no doubt that 5G is connecting with all walks of life.

However, while 5G is no longer an unfamiliar concept, and even 4G feels like it's going out of style, are you using 5G?

While many tastemakers have already embraced 5G (even if it's not perfected yet), many more observers are waiting for the right time to embrace it.
