OnePlus CEO Pete Lau posted a questionnaire about TVs on Weibo, surveying users on "whether they have plans to buy a TV recently" and "preferred size", hinting that the OnePlus TV may release in China.ย
At the end of September 2019, OnePlus held a launch event in India and unveiled its first smart TV product, the Q1 series, divided into two models, Q1 and Q1 Pro.
The Q1 series comes with a 55-inch 4K resolution QLED screen with hidden elevated speakers that support HDR 10+ and MEMC.
It runs Android TV system with Google Voice Assistant built in.
The difference between the Q1 and the Q1 Pro is that the Q1 Pro is equipped with 50W eight-speakers (the Q1 is a four-speaker), enabling Dobly Atmos sound.
The two models currently cost approximately RMB 6625.90 and 9469.64 respectively.
Late last year Pete Lau had revealed that OnePlus TV would be aiming for a domestic launch in 2020, while responding to TV's inclusion of advertising: it's making decisions in terms of user value, and if something doesn't have user value and is a nuisance to users, OnePlus won't go for it.
