Mobile office work, telecommuting and other work on the go, is the long-term evolution of the mobile Internet era of the general trend.
This year's global outbreak of new coronary pneumonia has greatly accelerated the pace of cloud office applications.
Even after the epidemic was contained in China, a number of companies continued to push for cloud computing to improve the office flexibility and efficiency of their employees.
Against this backdrop, ZTE Corporation released the new generation uSmart Cloud Computing Secure Office Solution (Cloud Computing for short) under the theme of "5G New Momentum for a New Era of Secure Office".
The solution is positioned for large-scale distributed co-working and is designed to meet the massive demand generated by the normalization of enterprise cloud working in the post-epidemic era.
So how does the cloud computer released this time differ from ZTE's previous cloud desktop products? "Cloud Computing can be seen as version 2.0 of Cloud Desktop." Hua Haixin, vice president and general manager of cloud video products at ZTE, said in a video conference interview with C114 and other media.
It is worth mentioning that this interview uses ZTE's internal TrueMeet video conferencing system, which runs smoothly during the interview with little to no jams.
According to the definition of the China Desktop Cloud Standardization White Paper published in 2016, the desktop cloud (cloud desktop) is a model for provisioning and delivering desktops on-demand over a network, with a scalable and elastic pool of shared physical or virtual resources on which the desktop operating system runs.
Compared to traditional PC, cloud desktop has the advantages of high security, centralized management, dynamic scalability and so on, the application scenarios are becoming more and more extensive.
Research from the Leadleo Institute shows that the majority of cloud desktop vendors in the market are only able to offer vertical industry services, with only 20% offering end-to-end cloud desktop solutions ranging from front-end servers, storage and networking devices to desktop virtualization software to back-end clients.
ZTE is one of the representative players, what are the considerations for this cloud computing launch?
Xia Zejin, vice president of ZTE's cloud video product line, pointed out that the cloud computer is not a computer, but a service that integrates all the IT-supported services needed for enterprise cloud offices, including call centers, such as conferencing systems, mailboxes and messaging.
It's a horizontally integrated set of cloud office solutions, or a collection of co-working. Conference systems, for example, can be offered by ZTE either on their own or as part of a cloud computer.
Xia Zejin said that the traditional cloud desktop, "desktop" as the name implies, cannot exist independently of the computer "table", while the cloud computer released by ZTE has its own developed hardware box, which can be used at any time, anywhere, with the display and keyboard, to network into the computer system.
This is a form of cloud computer, another form is the same appearance as a laptop or all-in-one machine, no different from computer use, but computing is placed in the cloud. "From the experience of use and product form, it goes beyond the traditional computer, so we call it a cloud computer."
In addition, traditional cloud desktops are used more in office scenarios, especially intranet scenarios, with many functional limitations.
As the cloud desktop version 2.0, it can be used in any scenario through ZTE's algorithm "backed" network support capability and provides end-to-end global security control from cloud terminal, network, compute, storage and the underlying virtualization platform, ensuring users' data security and eliminating enterprise cloud office worries.
In addition, ZTE can also provide both cloud computing services and cloud collaboration services, supporting one-click access to video conferencing, desktop sharing, whiteboards, and timely messaging under cloud computing services, making collaboration more seamless.
In Hua Haixin's opinion, cloud computers are compatible and alternative to cloud desktops with greater power, wider range of applications and full coverage of capabilities.
Therefore, it is believed that cloud computers will also be the main product of ZTE's cloud video product line to expand the cloud office market in the future.
According to ZTE's introduction, cloud computers have four major features: full-scene remote access, comprehensive information security, efficient collaboration, and intelligent operation.
Xia Zejin explained about remote access, information security, and efficient collaboration, while Hua Haixin focused on one of the features that distinguishes C114 from traditional cloud desktops: intelligent operations.
The logic of cloud computer integration intelligent operation capability lies in the traditional cloud desktop user front-end experience of the network, applications, etc., especially in remote cloud office, the back-end operation and maintenance support department is not perceptible.
This has led many enterprises to deploy cloud desktops, but the experience is poor and does not achieve the original purpose of efficient collaboration.
Communications is one of the most demanding industries in terms of network stability, and ZTE has accumulated a wealth of experience in applying this to cloud computers.
The system reads the CPU, storage usage, disk read/write speed, etc. of the cloud computer from the background and sets up a baseline line to keep users in their comfort zone.
In the event of a deviation, such as the download of software with a security vulnerability, the system can automatically report it and send an alert to the user.
At the same time, as an enterprise cloud office solution, the cloud computer also provides an optional feature to image user usage behavior through the big data platform, providing different image dimensions for different positions, which helps to improve the efficiency of cloud office for employees, thus strengthening the willingness of enterprises to adopt the cloud office approach at the technical level.
To put it another way, the unread message function, similar to Nails, ensures 100% message delivery; this function allows employees to work from home and other cloud-based work, but also to maintain high efficiency.
In conjunction with the release of the Cloud PC, ZTE announced solutions for customers in various industries, including finance, smart manufacturing, government, and carriers, and is committed to making the Cloud PC an expert in security and collaboration solutions for users in all industries.
Xia Zejin introduced that customers in the financial industry require a lot of data to stay off the ground, including some core applications, and whether they can migrate smoothly to cloud computers using CS or BS architectures.
Another example is the government cloud office, where the government requires the separation of the intranet and extranet, and the cloud computer can be physically isolated with one click through a customized solution.
"The cloud computer itself does not require much customization, mainly for the industry, adapting to the needs of enterprises, compatible with industry software, to meet specific needs.
Ultimately in the hands of the end-user, it's a computer that's not a barrier to use." Xia Zejin said. Its industry-specific and easy-to-use attributes have contributed to the popularity of its application in the industry market.
"Computers are very basic consumer electronics, both for individuals and for families, for businesses, and there is a very large market every year. When launched, the cloud computer will solve the application pain points of cloud office, including data security pain points, can largely replace the traditional computer."
Hua Haixin said, "We're also looking ahead to sometime in the future, when cloud computers take the stage for personal and home applications. ZTE has made a lot of investments and aspires to be the leader in cloud computing."
