Dailymotion, the world's second largest video sharing platform, has announced a partnership with Huawei Video that will see the former provide international and local video content to the latter, a partnership that is expected to continue expanding its presence in France and Europe.
The two companies said in a joint statement that Huawei Video will integrate the Dailymotion video player in its app.
The US ban prevents Huawei hardware products from using GMS services, which means Huawei is not allowed to install Google's software in its products, such as Android app marketplace Google Play Store, Google Mail, Google Search, Google Maps and Google Cloud Drive, as well as YouTube, the world's No. 1 video-sharing platform acquired by Google, which has greatly affected Huawei's sales in overseas markets.
Huawei is also actively pursuing remedies and developing its own Huawei Mobile Services service.HMS services include the AppGallery app marketplace, they recently launched Petal Search search software, and on the video service side they found Dailymotion to expand content.
The Paris, France-based video-sharing platform and Huawei have reached an agreement where the integrated player provides a large amount of international and local video content through Dailymotion's API, as well as an excellent solution to monetize video advertising resources. In other words, Huawei users will have access to a large amount of video content that can be profited from advertising, in a way that is largely consistent with YouTube.
Dailymotion said it is committed to supporting globally renowned publishers like Huawei Video and believes our video technology solutions will continue to enrich the publisher's content and expand its digital footprint to benefit a global audience.
While the Dailymotion platform may not be on par with YouTube in terms of both quantity and quality, the platform contains a large amount of content preferred by European audiences, which will make Huawei products popular in specific overseas markets and is expected to further broaden the audience for Huawei videos.
Stephane Godin, chief content officer at Dailymotion, said in a statement that it was an honor to work with Huawei to make all of the company's content appealing to a new high-end audience.
Jervis Su, vice president of mobile services for Huawei's consumer business, said people around the world will be able to easily browse the vast array of video and movie resources offered by partners, including Dailymotion, from anywhere, anytime.
"We're committed to bringing more choice to consumers, and we want to bring some joy into their lives during this difficult time."
