Nikkei, in collaboration with Japanese professional research firm Fomalhaut Techno Solutions, has completed the teardown of the Huawei Mate30 5G version with the intention of finding out how Huawei has changed under the US blockade.
In the Mate30 5G version of the dismantling found that the use of domestic parts in the mobile phone proportion of 41.8%, U.S.-made parts accounted for about 1%, 4G version of the U.S. parts accounted for only 1.5%, the communication chip also partly switched to the products of independent research and development of HSI Semiconductor.
The Nikkei report said that Huawei has had a somewhat resistant sourcing system at the hardware level during the year of U.S. sanctions, but still has a long way to go at the software level, such as the operating system.
Reports say that popular apps including Gmail and YouTube are currently not available on Huawei 5G phones, and if these popular software is not available on Huawei phones it will have an impact on future global sales of Huawei devices.
But Huawei has now ramped up development of its own Harmony OS.
The U.S. has changed its export rules so that chipmakers need a license to supply Huawei.
