A white paper released today by China Telecom suggests that subscribers using 5G networks may need to change their SIM cards.
Previously, China's three major telecom operators claimed to use 5G services, and that users would not change their cards or numbers.
China Telecom is the first in the industry to release a white paper on 5G SA security-enhanced SIM cards, which sets out basic functional requirements, architecture requirements, and technical requirements.
It details the new 5G mobility management, user identity privacy protection, security authentication enhancement, GBA authentication, 5G access control, 5G USAT events and other features and corresponding application scenarios.
The white paper also points out that, at this stage, users are accessing 5G networks through 4G cards and that existing 4G cards lack the new features and new card files and services defined in the 5G standard.
User identity data is transmitted explicitly in the communication process, and the location information is not accurate enough to meet the information and security requirements of 5G networks.
With the deep expansion of 5G industry applications, users can not well cope with the requirements of various business development, users can not enjoy the new experience and business services brought by 5G network.
