Xiaomi International recently released a promotional video for the Redmi Note 9 series, which uses creative elements to showcase the new features of the Redmi Note 9 series, such as 30W fast charging.
However, the Xiaomi video angered the Japanese public by involving a "fat man" balloon flying into the sky and out of the ceiling, with "Tokyo Asakusa" in the background, followed by a nuclear bomb explosion.
The atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, was codenamed "fat man" and was dropped when a white balloon exploded in the air. Japan is also the only country in the world that has been bombed by an atomic bomb.
The reference to the atomic bombing in the video was difficult for many Japanese people to accept. And Xiaomi apologized for the move.
Xiaomi International has taken down the video, and Xiaomi Japan Twitter has issued an apology stating, "We have posted a review of the latest product promotion video. We will work to prevent it from happening again in the future."
Xiaomi Japan said:
This latest product promotion for the overseas market contained ill-considered content and the video has been removed.
Xiaomi respects users and cultures around the world, and we will be closer to our users when producing new products that promote them. We will do everything we can to prevent it from happening again in the future and to resolve the problem.
