Chinese technology firm iFlytek today released a smart notebook using a e-ink screen for 3,499 yuan ($495).
It includes the iFlytek Smart Notebook Youth Edition co-branded with China Mobile's Migu Inc, and is aimed at young users such as college students and white-collar workers.
It uses a 9.7-inch e-ink screen from E Ink Corporation. It runs a deeply modified Android system.
The smart book adopts white frosted material body and fabric craft back shell.
It is equipped with Wacom custom EMR electromagnetic pen, which can firmly insert the pen clip of the pen into the right side body of the smart book.
The smartbook supports voice transfer and voice search functions. According to iFlytek, the smartbook directly calls the iFlytek cloud AI server cluster through the built-in 4G or WIFI. Within the effective distance, the transfer accuracy can reach 95%.
This smartbook cooperates with E Ink Corporation to realize the support for handwriting on e-ink screens by a chip (T1000 chip) in the industry. It directly implements the software processing part of the write delay through the chip, greatly reducing the write delay of the ink screen.
The writing latency is only about 30 milliseconds.
The Migu version has built-in Migu and iFlytek book stores and has more than 600,000 book resources, and supports Office document reading and direct handwritten annotations.
In addition, it also supports built-in reading of Tencent News, collection and reading of WeChat public account, Baidu network disk import reading, WeChat reading and Kindle direct reading.
At the same time, the smartbook also supports conventional USB import of electronic books, WIFI import, and mail import.
The Migu version will be launched on April 9 in iFlytek's flagship store in JD.com.
iFlytek also cooperated with German LAMY and jointly released the "iFlytek × LAMY" joint smart book.
LAMY is an internationally renowned stationery manufacturer with its headquarters in Heidelberg.
