Mobile phones that cost more than 10,000 yuan do not seem to be a special presence in Huawei's product line. P40 Pro+, Porsche version and Mate Xs have become synonymous with high-end.
While communicating with the media, Huawei Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu was asked, "When will a foldable phone be about the same price as a regular phone?"
His response was, "I think we need more than a year, maybe a year and a half or two years."
Yu revealed, "The cost of such products is very high, and we are still losing money. The cost is so high that you cannot believe that there is no way to make a profit." However, he also emphasized that "Mate Xs market demand is huge, and we are continuing to expand production to increase shipment."
Despite priced at 16,999 yuan, Mate Xs is still in a difficult situation to buy.
Compared with the first-generation folding screen Mate X, the upgrade of Xs lies in the use of the new Kirin 990 5G SoC chip, which has greatly improved performance, enhanced battery life, and supports more 5G frequency bands.
The new-generation hinge design can better protect the mobile phone and improve the reliability of the product; the new interaction design provides a convenient and efficient new experience such as smart split-screen and floating window.
