At last week's P40 series mobile phone conference, Huawei announced that the P40 series phones will be equipped with its own HMS service and App Gallery application store, without using Google's GMS and Play Store. This is also the first time Huawei has fully used its own services on flagship phones.
However, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business, said in an interview that Huawei still hopes to cooperate with Google to carry the Play Store.
In an interview with Wired magazine, Yu talked about his relationship with Google. He said that in the past we have brought huge revenue and profits to American companies like Google, and we have always been good partners. Therefore, Huawei still hopes to continue to cooperate with Google and hopes to obtain permission from the US government.
Yu mentioned that we want to use all Google services and make the Google Play Store the main content of Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) to provide users with more choices. We want to stay on the Android platform.
However, Yu also said that Huawei will continue to develop its own services and application stores. He said that the HMS and App Gallery application stores are developing rapidly and are getting better.
At present, there are more and more popular applications in the App Gallery application store, but (compared to the Play store) there will definitely be some gaps. These problems will take time to resolve. He expects Huawei to take one to two years.
