iFlytek said on Thursday that its color e-ink reader C1 will go on sale in China on April 24 for 1,488 yuan ($210).
The color e-ink reader C1 was released on March 19 in China. It uses the latest 6-inch high-resolution printed color e-ink display made by E Ink Corporation, a leading e-paper manufacturer.
Its flat design is fully fitted, with a resolution of 1448 × 1072, can display 4096 colors, and has a 24-level reading light and integrated speakers.
The reader C1 weighs 150 grams, is 6.9 millimeters thick, is light and comfortable, can be held with one hand, and can be put into a pocket or carry-on bag.
It is suitable for children's picture books, comic books, and illustrated books.
This time iFlytek aimed at the problem of insufficient color saturation and realized the image color enhancement mechanism to improve its display sharpness in comics and picture books.
Aiming at the problem that the color mode and the black and white mode have different resolutions (300PPI and 212PPI respectively), the display mode switching algorithm is optimized to improve the smoothness of its transition.
Aiming at the problem of low reflectivity of the color screen, a uniform light algorithm was designed based on the 24-level headlights to achieve a balance between color reproduction and soft brightness.
It also implements a Regal refresh and an exclusive dynamic contrast algorithm.
The adjusted color e-ink reader has relatively more saturated colors, sharper display, and smoother page-turning.
Chinese reading app iReader also announced the launch of its color e-ink reader iReader C6 with the same specifications with iFlytek's device on March 19.
The iReader C6 sells for 1,499 yuan ($211) and was made available for purchase on March 25.
