Meituan Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Chinese food delivery firm Meituan, recently announced that due to business adjustments, Meituan Public Cloud will stop service and support for users and recover resources from 00:00 on May 31, 2020.
Meituan Cloud also reminds that data cannot be retrieved after resource recovery. It is recommended that users perform data backup or system migration as soon as possible or submit a refund application.
Meituan Cloud has deployed a private cloud since 2012, initially for business services such as takeaways, movies, etc. within Meituan Reviews, and later extended to catering, hotels, and tourism.
In 2013, Meituan Cloud began to operate externally, and formally operated independently from May 2015, and established Beijing Sankuai Cloud Computing Co., Ltd.
In May 2017, Meituan Cloud announced a new product logo, which officially appeared in front of the media. At the same time, it announced the next strategic direction-fully open cloud capabilities.
However, in January 2018, the news of Meituan's strategic contraction of the business came out. Public cloud resources were converted to be used internally in Meituan, and employees of the public cloud business have also been transferred or resigned.
The Meituan cloud is equivalent to Meituan's exploration of "borderless", and now it is about to leave the field.
The following is the original Meituan Cloud announcement:
