Logitech on Wednesday released the Combo Touch, an iPad case with a keyboard and built-in trackpad, which is cheaper than Apple's new product.
A combination touch keyboard case with a touchpad has a full-size backlit keyboard, a touchpad located below it, and a protective case that can wrap the iPad. The bracket on the back can be tilted by 50 degrees.
Logitech's keyboard is priced at $150, which is half of Apple's similar products above $299.
But there are some key differences, the main difference is that they support different iPads: Logitech's products are suitable for the seventh generation iPad (currently 10.2 inch model) and the third generation iPad Air (currently 10.5-inch model), while Apple's protective case Available for iPad Pro only.
Logitech's case is usually not as feature-rich as Apple's. Apple's protective case adds a USB-C port, offers a wider range of adjustable angles, and generally looks better for iPad.
For high-end keyboards to be paired with the much more expensive iPad Pro, these additional features make more sense.
The Combo Touch keyboard case does have an extra feature: the keyboard can be removed, leaving only a wraparound case and stand.
This will make the iPad look a bit like Microsoft's Surface, just a tablet with a stand on the back for adjusting the viewing angle. Logitech's Combo Touch keyboard case is powered by the iPad's Smart Connector, and it also includes a ring for a stylus.
Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard Case will begin shipping in May.
