Microsoft today formally confirmed its cancelation of the Build Developers Conference in an email to attendees who registered for ticketing and issued a refund policy. The previous registration fee was $2,395.
The Build Conference is the latest technology event affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. On March 13, Microsoft decided to cancel the Build 2020 offline conference event. Microsoft plans to hold the annual Build Developers Conference in Seattle from May 19 to May 21.
The Build 2020 website now shows:
The safety of our community is top priority. In light of global health concerns due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and related government actions in Washington State, we will deliver our annual Microsoft Build for developers as a digital event, in lieu of an in-person event. Refunds are being issued to all purchased ticket holders.
We look forward to bringing together our ecosystem of developers in this new virtual format to learn, connect, and code together. Stay tuned for more details to come.
Microsoft Build event themes will include developer tools and language innovation; cloud development and containers; artificial intelligence and machine learning DevOps automation; cross-platform applications; the Internet of Things; building Microsoft 365 extensions; low-code tools.
Before the Microsoft Build 2020 conference was cancelled, Google had announced the cancellation of the I/O 2020 offline conference. In June of this year, Apple WWDC 2020 had been announced to be released online.
