The three Galaxy S20 phones showed poor battery life performance at 120Hz, a test showed.
The test by Phone Arena found that when the 120Hz option is switched on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, battery life will be reduced by nearly 20%. Other tests conducted after the update in early March showed that this effect may actually be more pronounced.
At the default refresh rate of 60Hz, the Galaxy S20 Ultra can last up to 12 hours and 23 minutes in browsing and scrolling tests, which is longer than most other phones tested by Phone Arena.
But if you switch to 120Hz, it will fall to 10 hours to 9 hours and 15 minutes, which means that the battery life will be reduced by 20% to 25%.
The Galaxy S20 Plus performs similarly when used at 60Hz: under the same test (default 60Hz), it has 12 hours and 40 minutes of battery life, which is longer than Ultra, but the impact of switching to 120Hz on battery life is also Bigger.
In 120Hz mode, the S20 Plus drops to 8 hours and 30 minutes, a difference of 33%.
The smaller Galaxy S20 has similar performance. At 60Hz, it has 12 hours and 12 minutes of performance, but when you switch to 120Hz, you will find that battery life has dropped significantly to 7 hours and 45 minutes, and battery life has decreased by 36%.
