Alibaba Cloud announced on Friday that it will open virus comparison services on the cloud free of charge to first-line virus research institutions such as global medical research institutions and disease control centers.
Alibaba Cloud said that the service can greatly improve the efficiency of virus gene detection, and it can complete the comparison of any virus gene including the new crown virus in as fast as 60 seconds, providing an effective basis for further understanding of virus mutation.
The free and open genetic computing service AGS (Alibaba Genomics Service) of Alibaba Cloud uses container technology and GPU to run multiple virus gene comparison services at the same time to shorten the process.
Alibaba Cloud pointed out that front-line virus research institutions, including the CDC, major universities, hospitals, and gene companies, can apply to Alibaba Cloud to quickly launch gene computing services.
