ESA (Entertainment Software Association), organizing the event of the 2020 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), announced the cancellation of the E3 game show originally scheduled to be held in Los Angeles from June 9 to 11 due to the coronavirus but will then contact the exhibitors and attendees about providing full refunds.
On March 3, E3 also stated that the event was not affected by the epidemic, and a 99-day countdown was held.
The 2020E3 game show is scheduled to be held from June 9 to 11, and the previously open player passes are available in two levels of $165 and $995.
Since its launch in 1995, E3 has attracted many game companies including Blizzard, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Electronic Arts.
However, in recent years, E3 has been hit continuously, and game manufacturers have continuously withdrawn from the show, changing product releases to their own events.
The number of exhibitors and new exhibitors at E3 last year also declined compared to 2018.
For this E3 game show, the biggest expectation should be Sony's next-generation console PS5 and Microsoft's Xbox Seris X.
Affected by the epidemic, including Google, Microsoft, Facebook and other technology giants have also changed the original plan of the developer conference in the first half of this year.
Google I/O Developer Conference and Microsoft's offline MVP Summit Conference were cancelled directly. Facebook's F8 conference and Nvidia's GTC conference have been changed to live streaming.
In addition to the events hosted by technology companies, several industry-heavy events were cancelled or postponed due to the epidemic. Such as MWC 2020, the top computer event ASPLOS 2020 will be cancelled. China Home Appliances Expo AWE2020 will be held in conjunction with AWE2021.
