The first generation of DJI Mavic Air, was released in January 2018. At that time, with its ultra-thin and light folding body and good performance, it caused a great sensation in the industry. More than two years have passed, during which DJI released the Mavic 2 series and Mavic mini, but there has been no sound about the Air series.
Photos posted by Twitter user OsitaLV (@OsitaLV) yesterday showed that the design of the Mavic Air 2 is very similar to the Mavic 2.
Is that it, just that one? pic.twitter.com/Ap8rrzC71n

This is a smarter choice. The Mavic 2 has proven to be a very robust and well-designed drone. The Mavic Air 2 continues this design philosophy.
At the bottom of the aircraft, multiple sensors were found, which are very similar to the Mavic 2. The Mavic 2 is equipped with vision sensors in six directions: front, back, left, right, up, and down.
At the bottom of the fuselage you can also see two binocular vision sensors and red LED indicators to compensate for the low brightness. In addition, Mavic's logo is clearly visible.
The design of the gimbal and camera is basically the same as that of the Mavic 2, but if you look closely at the photos, the sensor size seems to be small, and it should not be a 1-inch sensor. It seems that the shooting part of the Mavic Air 2 will not have too many surprises.
Although there are few things that can be known in terms of specifications, it can be confirmed that the Mavic Air 2 still continues the 360-degree obstacle avoidance function equipped on the Mavic 2, because the photo exposes two sensors on the back of the drone.
Last year, DJI announced that all drones weighing more than 250 grams will be equipped with ADS-B surveillance systems as standard, mainly with anti-collision warning functions, including mainstream models such as Phantom and Mavic.
When such an aircraft is detected, it will programmatically warn the controlling pilot. And Mavic Air 2 may be the first UAV product to support DAS equipped with ADS-B surveillance system.
The Mavic Air 2's remote control has also changed a lot. In addition to the display, its appearance has not changed much. This time, the placement of the smartphone has changed, from the bottom of the remote control to the top, which should look more intuitive.
On the remote control, you also see a function button, a home button, a switch for normal and sport modes, a video / photo button, and four battery status indicators. It seems that there may be more switches and buttons on the top and bottom of the remote.
The Mavic Air 2 basically inherits the design of the Mavic 2. The Mavic Air 2 expected to be released in April will be lighter and quieter, and its 4K shooting ability and battery life will be improved.
