With the iOS 13 update, Apple added support for USB mice to the operating system, but this is only for accessibility and does not increase productivity.
The "mouse" is not exactly a traditional cursor pointer, and the simulated fingers it uses are very inaccurate and don't seem to provide traditional mouse functions, so it is not significant.
However, this situation will change as iOS 14 changes.
According to 9to5mac, the upcoming iOS 14 (iPadOS 14) update may add appropriate system-wide support for the mouse.
After a few seconds without touching the mouse, the location the mouse is pointing at will disappear automatically. When you continue to use the cursor, the cursor will appear.
This includes supporting multiple cursors based on what you want to hover, such as switching from a standard arrow pointer to a pointing hand when hovering over a link.
These APIs may then be automatically converted to Mac applications through Catalyst, which currently lacks an API for changing the type of mouse cursor.
The report states that Apple will also add touchpad support in iOS 14 and support macOS-like gestures. For example, double-click your finger with the right mouse button.
Apple plans to release a smart keyboard accessory similar to the Surface keyboard cover for the iPad in the coming months.
The upcoming accessories and iOS 14 update will make the iPad a PC replacement to a certain extent.
