China's three major telecom operators said that as of the end of February, 80% of China's 5G network construction was implemented as planned.
As of the end of February, the number of China Mobile's 5G base stations has exceeded 80,000, and the number of 5G package users has reached 10 million. This year, the goal of "building 300,000 5G base stations and covering 5G cities across the country at the prefecture level" remains unchanged.
Bian Yannan, deputy general manager of China Mobile Planning and Construction Department, said that China Mobile has fully resumed the testing of 5G equipment and started the bidding and procurement of 5G wireless equipment and 5G independent core networks.
China Mobile plans to commercialize 5G independent networking in the fourth quarter and build the world's largest 5G network.
China Telecom and China Unicom have stated that they strive to complete the joint construction of 47 prefectures and 100,000 5G base stations in the first half of 2020. Among them, China Unicom plans to achieve 5G coverage in all prefectures and cities nationwide by 2020.
At present, China Telecom and China Unicom have launched 5G co-construction and sharing in 31 provinces across the country, and officially launched 5G commercialization in more than 50 cities across the country. In 2020, 550,000 5G base stations will be constructed and completed nationwide.
