North American users prefer iPhones, European users prefer Samsung phones, and OPPO A5 was the most popular smartphone among Asia-Pacific users, Counterpoint's 2019 best-selling smartphone rankings showed.
Counterpoint ranked the top 10 smartphones worldwide this year. They are ranked in order: Apple iPhone XR, iPhone 11, Samsung Galaxy A50, Galaxy A10, OPPO A5, iPhone 8, Galaxy A20, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 7, iPhone XS Max.
Apple dominated six seats in the top ten, including the first iPhone XR and the second iPhone 11. Samsung won three spots. The OPPO A5 ranked fifth.
The company named the Apple iPhone XR the best-selling model in 2019. Apple iPhone XR is also the only model that has recorded double-digit market share in every important region of the world.
Although Huawei's overall sales have climbed to the second in the world, and it is the first in the Chinese market, it does not have a mobile phone in the top ten in the world. Xiaomi and vivo also failed to have products on the list.
According to data previously released by Counterpoint, total global smartphone shipments in 2019 were 1.486 billion units. The top three brands in global sales in 2019 are Samsung, Huawei and Apple, with sales of 296.5 million units, 238.5 million units and 196.2 million units respectively.
