On February 26, the King Glory Professional E-sports League announced that in order to ensure the King Pro League (KPL) 2020 Spring Games to be held successfully, the King Glory Professional E-sports League launched an online game system.

The announcement stated that the corresponding rules have been improved and the match is scheduled to start on March 18.

KPL's first "online match opener" was played by Chengdu AG Superplay vs. Chongqing QGhappy. Spectators can watch the match on March 18 at 18:00 on the official website of King Glory, in-game event zone, King camp and live broadcast platforms.

This is the first time in five years that KPL has been trying online.

On the basis of the existing Rules, the league has released the "King Glory Professional League (KPL) Online Rules (Interim)", which defines the norms for standardizing online battle rooms and online access to players.

The new online game rules stipulate that during the online game, the league referees will go to each official competition venue to make on-site judgments. Players will compete at the club bases and official designated offline venues where the network and equipment meet the standards set by the alliance. The rule of being on time 60 minutes before the match and having three minutes of rest between innings is still continued.

The rules also stipulate that during the competition, players are prohibited from wearing communication equipment, using social media, and irrelevant personnel to communicate. Officials shall record and collect evidence during the entire game. The recording screen shall include at least the upper body of the player and mobile phone equipment.

Regarding the broadcast and execution of the game, Zhang Yijia, general manager of Tencent Interactive Entertainment's mobile e-sports business and chairman of the KPL Alliance, responded to Jiemian.com that previously, KPL's game signal collection, production, and push were completed on the front end, while the 2020 spring season was in the production The biggest difference is the launch of the remote integrated production center in Shanghai.

This means to make the front-end work "mild". The front-end only needs to collect. With the help of cloud transmission, the rest of the process can be completed in the remote production center.

However, Zhang Yijia acknowledged that the impact of the cancellation of offline viewing on KPL was the loss of offline sponsorship rights, fixed costs, tickets and other losses, and the alliance's response was to replace the original offline rights through replacements.

Therefore, KPL's first practice in the industry is to maintain the overall commercial value of the game. Zhang Yijia believes that the impact of the epidemic on e-sports professional leagues is short-term and the trend will not change in the long run.

As the highest-level national professional event in the "Glory of the King" system, the first KPL competition began in 2016. Within five years, it took the form of offline competition at the Shanghai World Expo Center, the Oriental Sports Center, the Mercedes-Benz Center and Large venues such as the Chengdu Rubik's Cube were held.
