Huawei announced today that it will host a Huawei terminal product and strategy online conference at 21:00 on February 24. A new member of the Kirin chip family will be unveiled. Some people think that this will be the new Kirin 820.
It is worth noting that as early as September 24, 2019, Huawei has applied for the registration of the trademark of "Magic Rhino" processor. The applicant is Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., and is currently waiting for the substantive examination.
The trademark involves two international classifications, the first being classification 9, which, according to the description, applies to:
- Face recognition equipment; scales; weight scales; scales with body mass analyzers; portable digital electronic scales; smartphones; downloadable mobile application software;
- Downloadable emojis for mobile phones; recorded computer operating programs; large-screen liquid crystal displays; electronic diaries; liquid crystal displays; electronic pens;
- Video and image printers; computer stylus pens; wearable motion trackers; smart phone cases; smart phone cases; protective films for smart phone screens; signal transponders; network communication equipment.
The second is classification 42, which applies to:
- Technical research; research and development of new products for others; scientific research; research of technical projects; telecommunication technical consulting; computer programming; computer software design;
- Computer software update; computer hardware design and development consulting; computer software maintenance; computer data recovery; conversion of tangible data or files into electronic media;
- Computer system design; creating and maintaining websites for others; data conversion (non-tangible conversion) of computer programs and data; computer software consulting; web server rental; provision of Internet search engines.
These classification descriptions are collectively called, so for the time being, we don't see the specific use of the Magic Rhino processor.
However, from the perspective of keywords such as face recognition and smart phones, there is hope that they will appear in mobile phones. Of course, there is no exact evidence for the release on the 24.
Many of Huawei's software and hardware products are named after traditional Chinese culture, especially ancient myths and beasts.
Among them, the hardware chip already includes SoC chip Kirin, AI chip rising, server chip Kunpeng, mobile communication chip Baron/Teana, router chip Ling Xiao, and software includes operating system Harmony OS, Ark compiler.
