TCL is developing a smartphone with a slide-out screen. Unlike foldable devices such as Motorola Razr or Samsung Galaxy Fold, this device is like a retractable dining table, and the second screen slides out from under the first screen.
Many companies withdrew after the outbreak of the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, so GSMA officially cancelled the Barcelona MWC 2020 conference. Until MWC 2020 announces its cancellation, TCL planed to showcase this smartphone at the show.
It's unclear how the TCL slide-out screen smartphone works internally, but speculation is that one part of the flexible screen is bent or wrapped behind another. This may make the smartphone thicker than normal devices.
This does not mean that this phone will be released soon. TCL has now demonstrated its foldable device prototypes in several different exhibitions but has not yet released consumer-oriented products.
