Xiaomi aims to go high-end as exec says will compete with Huawei and Apple-CnTechPost

The Xiaomi brand is going for the H (high-end) brand and there is no doubt that Xiaomi digital and MIX series are using the Huawei P/Mate and iPhone as benchmarks, Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi China, said on Weibo on Sunday.

He also said that the Xiaomi brand will break away from price restrictions, put its best efforts to make flagship device, establish a high-end image, and focus on competition with benchmark products.

Those other "brands" are things Redmi should consider, he said.

Here is an auto-translated version of what he said on Weibo:

Lu Weibing's comments echoes what Xiaomi chairman and CEO Lei Jun said three days earlier.

As cnTechPost mentioned, Lei Jun hinted on Weibo on Thursday that the price of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10 may be higher than its predecessor in order to make better products.

Xiaomi said earlier that Xiaomi Mi 10 will be equipped with LPDDR 5 memory as standard. Chang Cheng, vice president of Xiaomi, also hinted that Xiaomi Mi 10 will also support UFS3.0 and 5G while equipped with Snapdragon 865 and LPDDR5.

In this regard, Weibo users are worried that Xiaomi Mi 10 will increase its price with one of them saying: "We may can't afford it, UFS 3.0 = price increase, LPDDR5 = price increase, 108mp = price increase, Snapdragon 865 5G = price increase, 90Hz Samsung curved screen = price increase."

Lei Jun responded to the user, saying "while designing Xiaomi 10 this time, I asked to lift the price constraint and focus on making the product better!"
