Samsung has been considering its options around the MWC 2020, which takes place in Barcelona, Spain, between February 24 and 27, Cnet report Saturday citing people familiar with the company's plans.
Many of the South Korean electronics giant's U.S. and Korean headquarters employees plan to cancel their trips to Europe, the people said.
As of Friday, Samsung still planned to have a booth and presence at the show, the people said, but we could see a halt to the important dealmaking between executives that often takes place behind the scenes at an event that attracts 100,000 people.
The rapidly changing conditions surrounding the coronavirus could cause Samsung's plans to change again, the people said.
LG has canceled its participation in the MWC 2020, the biggest world event of the telecom industry.
Concerned with the safety of its employees and the general public, LG has decided to withdraw from the exhibition and participation in MWC 2020 to be held later this month in Barcelona, Spain, LG said in a statement.
This decision will allow avoid unnecessary exposure of hundreds of LG employees to international travel, which most health experts have advised, it added.
Regarding when 2020 mobile products will be released, LG stated that "LG will hold a separate event in the near future to release 2020 mobile products instead of participating in MWC."
