In order to improve gaming performance, Red Devil 3, released last April, became the first smartphone with built-in fans. On the upcoming Red Devil 5G smartphone, this technology may be re-used, for charging.
Ni Fei, Nubia president and co-founder, said on Weibo on Saturday that the Red Devil 5G will use the technology of what he called as "air-cooled turbo fast charge."
He said the built-in fan + liquid cooling technology that was originally used for game cooling will now be used for charging and cooling with the help of AI.
Smartphones are prone to heat during fast charging, and the charging efficiency decreases as the temperature increases.
Red Devil 5G's strategy is to automatically turn on the built-in fan when the phone's current and temperature reach certain thresholds, accelerating the body's heat dissipation, and ensuring that high-power fast charging is more durable.
In this way, the charging efficiency of the mobile phone will naturally improve. Ni Fei refers to this technology as "air-cooled turbo fast charge."
On Friday, Ni Fei posted an image on Weibo showing a Nubia Red Devil mobile phone can charge up to 8.4V, with a current of 9.6A and a real-time power of above 80W.
The picture showed the fast charging protocol is USB PD, which has a maximum power of 100W, implying that the Red Magic 5G may already support 100W charging power.
