Motorola has uploaded several videos to its YouTube channel to show off the clamshell Razr smartphone, with a Caring for Razr clip explaining how to look after the $1,500 device.
After months of waiting, Motorola Razr, the world's first clamshell foldable smartphone, started pre-order on January 26. The company said it will be shipped on February 6 in the U.S. but on Verizon the information showed it will be shipped on February 14.
As is shown by the Galaxy Fold, foldable smartphones are fragile, so Motorola explained in the Caring for Razr clip that the Razr is water repellent but advises to wipe the device with a dry cloth should it get wet.
Motorola said bumps and lumps are “normal” in the flexible plastic screen. It also advises to avoid sharp objects and not to use a screen protector, which would likely result in the adhesive damaging the display.
The company also said users should close the Razr before putting it in pockets, reaffirming that this is a less durable device than most handsets.
Motorola Razr was released in the United States in November 2019, but due to market demand and supply issues, the sale of the product has been delayed.
Despite Motorola said the device will start shipping on February 6, but it apparently won’t make that date either.
The device will ship on February 14 on Verizon, just two days after Samsung’s Unpacked event where it’s expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip—a direct competitor to the Razr.
The device has a screen size of 2.7 inches when folded and a resolution of 800 × 600. Its screen size expands to 6.2 inches when unfolded and has a resolution of 2142 × 876.
There is a wide protruding chin under the phone, which supports fingerprint recognition.
It is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, uses Android 9 Pie system, supports 6GB + 128GB storage, and has a battery capacity of 2510mAh.
