China's three major operators, China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, have opened 5G base stations in Wuhan Caidian Huoshenshan with the cooperation of Huawei, according to announcements from the operators.
China is mobilizing medical staff to aid Wuhan, the center of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak. According to Xinhua, Chinese health authorities announced Sunday that 1,975 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), including 324 in critical conditions, had been reported in the country by the end of Saturday.
By Saturday, the pneumonia situation had resulted in a total of 56 deaths, while 49 people had recovered and 2,684 remained as suspected patients.
To tackle the epidemic, Wuhan will build a makeshift hospital designed to have an area of 25,000 square meters with 1,000 beds. The facility is expected to be completed and put into use prior to Feb. 3. The location is the Huoshenshan area (means Vulcan Mountain) in the Caidian District of western suburb of Wuhan.
In addition to supporting operators' 5G network construction, Huawei has also established a special security team consisting of services, research and development, and supply chains to ensure the normal operation of the Hubei Health and Medical Commission video conference system.
The system is an important consultation platform for the Hubei Health Commission and the National Health Commission and other provinces ’health committees during the treatment of the new coronavirus epidemic, and Huawei will fully protect the mobile and fixed broadband communication networks of Hubei operators.
The three major operators completed optical fiber laying, base station antenna erection, and main equipment installation in Caidian Huoshenshan on the morning of January 25.
In the afternoon of the same day, Huawei has completed the commissioning of the base stations, and conducted business tests and network optimization in the evening. At present, 5G base stations of Hubei Mobile, Hubei Unicom and Hubei Telecom have been commissioned.
In addition to 5G network construction, Hubei Mobile will also increase the capacity of the original 4G network by more than three times to meet the needs of this new fight against coronavirus infection.
Hubei Unicom has newly built 3 5G base stations, expanded 3 4G base stations, and optimized 2 3G base stations. At present, all 3G/4G/5G networks have been installed and commissioned.
The construction plan uses the highest network capacity configuration to meet the needs of the field communication network.
The three major operators in Hubei have all established and opened Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital's 5G network. 5G will help Huoshenshan Hospital to achieve ultra-high-speed 5G network connection, high-speed data access, data acquisition, remote consultation, remote monitoring and other services.
