Xiaomi's new vice president, Chang Cheng, released a technical panorama of Xiaomi, showing that Xiaomi's technology spending in the first three quarters of 2019 was 5.3 billion yuan. It also showed Xiaomi has applied for 33,000 patents as of 2019.

Chang Cheng also said that Xiaomi's patents in the field of AI rank first in the global Internet companies. Over the past five years, Xiaomi has invested 50 billion in research and development of 5G-related technologies, and adopted a "mobile phone + 'AIoT" dual engine to help Xiaomi achieve breakthroughs in all scenarios.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has stated that in 2020, Xiaomi's total investment in research and development will exceed 10 billion yuan.
