Mobile phone shipments in the China were 389 million units in 2019, a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%, according to data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology on Thursday.
Among them, the number of 5G mobile phone shipments exceeded 13 million units, the data showed.
In 2019, there were 573 new models listed in China, a year-on-year decrease of 25.0%, including 138 2G mobile phones, 1 3G mobile phone, 399 4G mobile phones, and 35 5G mobile phones.
Domestic brand mobile phones shipped 352 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 4.9%, accounting for 90.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.
A total of 506 new domestic models were listed, a year-on-year decrease of 27.2%, and accounted for 88.3% of the new mobile phone models listed.
In 2019, the shipment volume of smartphones was 372 million units, a decrease of 4.7% year-on-year, accounting for 95.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period, of which Android phones accounted for 91.2% of smartphones.
In 2019, there were 424 new models of smartphones on the market, a year-on-year decrease of 27.8%, accounting for 74.0% of the number of new models on the market during the same period, of which 415 were mobile phones supporting the Android operating system.
In December, the total shipment volume of China's mobile phone market was 30.444 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 14.7%, of which 23.57 million 4G mobile phones and 5.414 million 5G mobile phones.
In December, 35 new models were launched, down 16.7% year-on-year, of which 7 were 2G mobile phones, 17 were 4G mobile phones, and 11 were 5G mobile phones.
In December, China’s domestic brand mobile phone shipments were 26.613 million, a year-on-year decrease of 17.3%, accounting for 87.4% of the same-year mobile phone shipments; 30 new models were listed, a year-on-year decrease of 21.1%, accounting for 85.7%.
In December, there were 28.931 million smartphone shipments, a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%, accounting for 95.0% of mobile phone shipments over the same period, of which Android phones accounted for 89.0% of smartphones.
In December, there were 27 new models of smartphones on the market, a year-on-year decrease of 25.0%, accounting for 77.1% of the number of new models of mobile phones on the market during the same period, of which 25 models supported the Android operating system.
