MediaTek launches the 7nm process-based Dimensity 800 SoC at CES 2020, which will bring mid-range smartphones with 5G connection.
The Dimensity 800 5G chipset supports 2CC carrier aggregation. Compared with other platforms without 1CC and no carrier aggregation, its coverage has expanded by more than 30%.
Dimensity 800 supports SA and NSA sub-6Ghz networks, as well as multi-mode support from 2G to 5G and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS). Services such as VoNR are also supported to deliver voice and data over 5G.
The Dimensity 800 has four 2-GHz Cortex-A76 cores and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores that also reach 2 GHz.
The graphics unit belongs to the same category as the graphics unit in the Dimensity 1000, combining a technology called HyperEngine, which can enhance the hardware to make it perform better in games.
The Dimensity 800's ISP supports 64MP sensors or 32MP + 16MP dual cameras, providing AI autofocus, auto exposure, auto white balance, noise reduction and HDR algorithms.
MediaTek said that the first mobile phones equipped with the Dimensity 800 processor will be available in the first half of 2020.
