The world's first mass-produced L4 driverless bus has recently been put into use in Qiandenghu Park, Foshan, Guangdong, according to the Southern Metropolis Daily.
The driverless bus can carry 7 passengers and a safety officer. The control panel of the car is on the left front of the compartment. On the panel, the cars and pedestrians detected by the driverless bus can be marked with different colors.
After the safety officer on the vehicle confirmed that the passengers were seated and fastened their seat belts, they started the vehicle by operating the control panel.
After the car is started, the security officer does not need to do any further operations.
The driverless bus will go forward and turn on its own according to the predetermined route. When encountering vehicles and pedestrians, the experiencers will feel obvious braking and deceleration.
Passengers feel very smooth while the car is moving, reports said.
At present, driverless buses have two stations, the National Sports Park and Qiandeng Lake. There are fewer vehicles on this section. Citizens can make an appointment through the "Qiandeng Lake AI Park" mini-program on WeChat, or they can line up at the station to board the car. The whole process is free of charge.
