A new design patent from Chinese technology company TCL shows that it may create a smartphone with a retractable display in the future, according to letsgodigital.
As more and more smartphone manufacturers are seeking innovation on the screen, folding display mobile phones, pull-out display mobile phones and scroll-like designs have all emerged.
In the last six months, patents on retractable (pull-out) screen mobile phones from Samsung, LG, Xiaomi and other companies have been exposed, and TCL has also joined them.
On December 5, 2019, TCL Mobile Communications applied for a design patent for this smartphone in Europe, and the smartphone can be pulled out horizontally. The patent was included in the WIPO Global Design Database on December 23, 2019.
As you can see from the design sketches and renders made by letsgodigital, the TCL phone uses a left-right retractable design that fully expands like a tablet computer.
There is no camera on the front of the phone, and there are four cameras on the rear.
The design has similar ideas as what Samsung has been thinking.
Samsung applied for a new mobile phone design patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office in June 2019, which was officially announced on December 19, according to Patently Mobile last month.
It can be seen from the patent sketch that Samsung's left and right sides are narrower on this phone, but the chin looks wide.
The novelty of this phone is that it can expand the area of the display screen. It has a removable panel on the back, and users can do it with one finger.
