Huawei and China Mobile has recently completed the world's first on-drone 5G base station emergency communication test, with the on-drone base station covers more than 6.5KM when flying at 200m altitude.
This test is the first case in the world to cover the drone with a 5G communication system, verifying the feasibility and implementation of the 5G high-altitude base station solution, and providing a better emergency communications solution for future earthquake relief work.
The test was conducted in Xiong'an New District, Hebei Province, and the feasibility of the scheme was fully verified using a tethered drone + 5G high-altitude base station, according to c114.com.cn.
The wireless base station solution uses Huawei's 4 / 5G dual-mode BOOKRRU + custom omnidirectional antenna, which is smaller in size, lighter in weight, and easy to carry.
The core network solution uses the SA architecture and is connected to the core network in Nanjing.
When not taking off, the test near-point achieved the effect of signal strength -68dBm, uplink rate of 100Mbps, and downlink rate of 600Mbps.
When flying at a high altitude of 200m, the endurance lasts 4 hours, and the maximum coverage is 6.5km.
