OPPO released the Reno3 Pro 5G mobile phone in Hangzhou today, showing its accumulation in 5G technology.
OPPO stated that it established a communications standards team in 2015 and started 5G research work at the same time. OPPO Reno 10x zoom version 5G mobile phone is the first 5G mobile phone product officially launched in Europe.
Recently, OPPO released 5G CPE-T1, which has high requirements for 5G research and development capabilities, and 5G can be turned into Wi-Fi by plugging in a 5G SIM card. Among the companies whose main business is mobile phones, OPPO 5G patents rank first.
OPPO also said that in the next three years, it will invest more than 50 billion yuan in research and development, and has already started the research and development of 6G technology.
With 5G adoption gaining traction fast in China, 6G is on the horizon and there is currently an initial timetable for it.
Yang Fengyi, one of the expert panel members of China's 6G development, said recently the network speed for 6G will be 10 to 100 times that of 5G and its commercial use could be expected around 2030.
The Ministry of Science and Technology of China together with five other ministries recently held a meeting for launching the research and development of 6G in Beijing, according to information on the ministry's website earlier this month.
A work group and an expert group for pushing ahead with the R&D of 6G technology was established during the meeting, with former consisting mainly of government officials and the latter consisting of 37 experts from colleges, research institutes and companies.
The establishment of the work group and expert group marks the official launch of 6G R&D in China, the ministry said.
