Nintendo Switch sales in China will not be so easy as the Chinese market is currently dominated by PC games and mobile games and companies whose main business is game consoles are struggling, Shuntaro Furukawa, president and CEO of Nintendo said in a recent interview with Sankei Shimbun.
This time Nintendo chose to cooperate with Tencent for sales in China. The latter is familiar with developing games for mobile phones and has a strong sales network. It can fully show the fun of games and increase the number of Nintendo fans in China.
In the future, Nintendo hopes to sell games developed by other game makers other than Nintendo's first party through Tencent, including games under development, and hopes to gradually expand the National Bank's game lineup.
Nintendo Switch Chinese version has been released on December 10, 2019. The sales volume is stable, and investors are expected to analyze the organization: Switch National Bank version of the host sold more than 50,000 units on the first day.
From the standpoint of Shuntaro Furukawa, although Nintendo recognizes the advantages that Tencent can promote the National Bank Switch, it also fully anticipates the difficulties of expanding territory in the Chinese market where console games are not mature.
Of course, whether this attempt can achieve the intended goal of Nintendo depends on the complete level of user experience that domestic players can bring in the future.
