Huawei P40 Pro will use a newly designed periscope telephoto lens, the first mobile phone to support 10x optical zoom, Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted in his latest report.
Huawei will launch this new high-end model P40 Pro with a newly designed periscope telephoto lens model in the first quarter of 2020. It is expected to sell for 4,000-5,000 RMB and ship about 9 million units in 2020, Kuo said.
At the same time, the new light refraction devices used by Huawei P40 Pro are exclusively supplied by Matt, including Prism and Mirror, he said.
Compared to the P30 Pro periscope telephoto lens, which has only a simple design, the internal structure design of the P40 Pro periscope telephoto lens has changed significantly and is more complicated. The 2 mirrors extend the refraction path of light in a periscope telephoto lens, achieving 10x optical zoom.
Kuo predicted that in 2020, new models of the periscope telephoto lens equipped with the P30 Pro will be adopted, including the P40, Nova high-end, Honor high-end and Mate high-end.
At the same time, due to the increase in the number of models, the average price will drop to 2,500-3,500 yuan, and shipments of existing periscope telephoto lenses are expected to grow significantly to 28 million.
Kuo said that optical zoom is the key to the specification upgrade of high-end smartphones in 2020, and it is expected that more high-end models will use periscope telephoto lenses to significantly improve the optical zoom specifications.
