OPPO smartphones with a price of more than 3,000 yuan will all support 5G, Wu Qiang, President of OPPO Global Sales said Thursday.
At this year's Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit, Wu Qiang announced that OPPO will release a flagship mobile phone based on the Snapdragon 865 platform in the first quarter of next year, while the mid-range mobile phone OPPO Reno 3 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 765 platform will Released this month.
After the keynote speech, Wu Qiang accepted an interview with the media. When asked about whether OPPO will have enough Snapdragon 865 in the first quarter of next year, Wu Qiang said that OPPO is one of Qualcomm’s most important partners in China. If OPPO needs it, Qualcomm will fully support it.
Wu Qiang said that next year OPPO products with a price of more than 3,000 yuan will no longer be 4G-only mobile phones.
He predicts that mid-to-high-end models above 3,000 yuan in the Chinese market in the first half of next year may be 5G mobile phones, and 5G mobile phones with a price of 2,000-3,000 yuan may appear in the second quarter.
However, he said OPPO's domestic 5G mobile phone shipments will definitely be higher than overseas markets next year, and domestic 5G mobile phone demand will be greater; it is expected that the entire Chinese market will have approximately 5 million 5G mobile phone shipments next year.
Regarding the upcoming Reno 3 Pro, Wu Qiang said that in order to wait for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G chipset, OPPO cancelled the 5G products originally scheduled to be released in October this year. Reno 3 Pro will be the first to carry the Snapdragon 765G dual-mode 5G mobile platform.
He also revealed that Reno 3 Pro was originally a product that should be released in March-April next year, but because the 765G was launched in advance and the product was more mature, so it will be released in advance.
Under normal circumstances, a series of products will not iterate three times a year, this year is a special case. In terms of the domestic market, OPPO has adjusted its product rhythm. If the wave of Reno 3 Pro is promoted, the domestic market will also increase.
Wu Qiang said that OPPO has cooperated with 11 operators in overseas regions and has entered 7 countries. There is still huge room for growth in the future. OPPO will continue to expand into overseas markets while upgrading its brand.
Among them, Western Europe, Japan, Australia and other markets are the focus of OPPO's growth. Only by doing brand highlands in Europe and Japan can we say that we are a global brand. In addition, other markets in Latin America and Europe also need OPPO to prepare for expansion.
When asked about OPPO's own chip plans, Wu Qiang said that OPPO has many of its own chips in VOOC flash charging technology, including control chips and power management chips. The number of users of VOOC flash charging technology has exceeded 145 million. OPPO has 10,000 R & D personnel worldwide, and this year's R & D investment is up to 1.4 billion US dollars.
Wu Qiang also emphasized the relationship between OPPO, Qualcomm and many other partners. He said that OPPO had a good relationship with all partners before making mobile phones. When switching from feature phones to smart phones, OPPO cancelled many orders, but compensated all suppliers for their losses.
For orders placed under OPPO, you must bear the losses, even if you place orders verbally. He continued to say that OPPO maintains good relations and close cooperation, whether it is domestic suppliers, core suppliers such as Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony, or overseas operators.
