Supply chain sources said Huawei will expand outsourced assembly of 5G mobile phones next year, and Hon Hai won all of Huawei ’s 5G mobile phone OEM orders next year, with a total estimate of more than 50 million, according to a report from Taiwan Economic Daily.
Huawei is now the world's second-largest supplier of smartphones after Samsung. Currently, it strives to surpass Samsung and requires the supply chain to fully cooperate. Hon Hai Precision Industry is the world's largest contract manufacturing company and is better known as Foxconn.
Sources said that Huawei has planned the total supply of phone shipments next year to increase by more than 20% to 300 million units, a record high.
Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei has repeatedly stated that whether the "temporary license" from the United States has been extended will not have much impact on Huawei, and Huawei is ready to survive under the list’s long-time existence, and "foundry partners must be selected carefully."
The report said that Huawei has asked Hon Hai to make all its 5G phones next year.
Hon Hai and other Taiwanese factories have never commented on a single customer. Liu Yangwei, head of Foxconn (Hon Hai) chip business, had predicted that optimistic that 5G will drive 10% year-on-year growth of enterprise products such as servers and China Netcom, and consumer and smart applications such as smartphones will also continue to grow.
