Shenzhen has installed more than 13,000 5G base stations and will complete the deployment of more than 40,000 on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone next year.
The data was announced on the Shenzhen 5G Industry Alliance conference held on November 30. It also said Shenzhen will be the first in the country to achieve full coverage of 5G.
At the end of September this year, Shenzhen announced that it had completed the deployment of 10,000 5G base stations, and Huaqiangbei District achieved full 5G coverage.
Shenzhen recently announced measures to speed up the development of the 5G industry.
Telecom operators who completed the 5G base station construction goals on time, each of the base stations constructed in SA mode will be awarded 10,000 yuan, and a single telecom operator will be awarded a maximum of 150 million yuan.
According to the plan, Shenzhen will build 15,000 5G base stations by the end of 2019 to achieve full coverage of 5G networks in key areas; by the end of August 2020, a total of 45,000 5G base stations will be built to achieve full coverage of the city's 5G networks.
The Shenzhen 5G Industry Alliance was initiated by China Mobile Shenzhen Branch, Foxconn, Shenzhen Research Institute of Peking University and other nearly 100 industry leaders.
