Apple announced on Monday it will hold a press event on December 2 in New York for “honoring our favorite apps and games of 2019.”
The invitation features a golden App Store icon with a tagline “Loved by millions. Created by the best.”
Considering Apple will hold an event annually to release the details of its favorite apps and games, the upcoming event may be a kind of awards ceremony and probably there will be no new hardware devices.
On December 3 last year, Apple revealed the Best of 2018, a global collection of top charts and selects highlighting all of the amazing things to watch, read, listen to and play across apps, music, podcasts, books, TV and movies. Apple said:
It’s an invariable list of the who’s who and what’s what from the past year that is certain to help answer at least some of the most burning questions and make for fun conversation around any holiday dinner table.
“Procreate Pocket” won the iPhone App of the Year award, “Donut County” was awarded the iPhone Game of the Year and “Froggipedia” won the iPad App of the Year award in 2018, just to name a few. You can check the full list here.
Previous reports have been expecting Apple to hold an event in October for new devices, but that didn’t happen and Apple quietly released the AirPods Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Now people are still expecting Apple to release the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR in December, but this doesn’t seem likely to happen at the upcoming event.
