Huawei takes the lion's share in 5G phones
China officially started commercial use of 5G on Thursday with all three telecom operators rolling out service packages on Friday.
Now in China a total of 11 phone models with 5G capability have already been unveiled and 5 of them are from Huawei.
The Huawei 5G phones that attracted the most attention are the Mate 30 series which went on sale in China on Friday.
As cnTechPost mentioned earlier, the 5G version of Huawei Mate 30 series are available to customers at 10:08 Beijing time on Friday and till 10:15 the sales is equivalent to 100 million yuan per minute.
The entry model of the Mate 30 5G is priced at 4,999 yuan while the most expensive model of the Mate 30 Pro 5G is 7899.
According to what Huawei claimed, even if all the phones sold were the most high end model then the sales equal to 12500 per minute. This means Huawei has sold at least 87500 in total of the 5G version of the Mate 30 series.
Both the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro have the Kirin 990 5G chipset, which is clocked at 2.86 GHz. The SoC is slightly different from the basic Kirin 990, running in the non-5G variants of the phones.
It has slightly faster CPU clusters and two big NPU cores to match the faster performance of the chipset, given the higher bandwidth speeds.
Both the devices have a total of 21 antennas each where 14 are for 5G, more than double the 6-antenna design of other 5G phones.
