- MiniMax has rolled out MMX-CLI, a command-line tool designed for AI agents, enabling them to independently execute complete automated workflows.
- Specifically optimized for agents, the tool marks MiniMax's first product in its AI agent infrastructure lineup.

Chinese AI startup MiniMax has launched a new command-line tool named MMX-CLI, which is tailor-made for AI agents.
Upon integrating the tool, agents can natively call upon MiniMax's omni-modal models, including coding and video generation, to independently complete multi-modal automated workflows.
To ensure operational stability, the research and development team optimized the underlying design by adopting a pure data output mode to prevent extraneous characters from interfering with the agents' accurate parsing, according to a company statement on Thursday.
The tool supports semantic exit codes and non-blocking asynchronous task control, meeting the needs of agents to process multiple complex tasks in parallel within non-interactive environments.
With the tool integrated, agents can operate in environments such as Claude Code and OpenClaw, invoking various models like coding and video generation to accomplish complex tasks.
Powered by MMX-CLI, a single agent can independently complete a full-cycle workflow ranging from "data collection, copywriting, and voice synthesis to image and music matching, and video production," the statement said.
Addressing the challenges of adapting standard command-line tools for agents, the team conducted underlying optimizations in three key areas to ensure operational stability and parsing accuracy.
Its output isolation and pure data mode prevent interference from progress bars and colored characters, with stdout (standard output) only outputting clean file paths or JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) data, the company said.
The semantic exit code design allows agents to identify error types and determine whether to retry simply through numerical codes, eliminating the need to read English error messages.
Meanwhile, non-blocking and asynchronous task control resolves issues such as system freezes caused by missing parameters and resource occupation by lengthy tasks, enabling agents to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
MMX-CLI is highly user-friendly, requiring only two lines of code for installation and invocation. It also seamlessly integrates with the MiniMax token Plan to display package usage, according to the announcement.
The company reported a revenue of $79.04 million in 2025, a massive year-on-year surge of 158.9%. The release of this new product further accelerates its strategic expansion in the AI sector.
