Chinese robot maker UBTech has struck a strategic partnership with a Honda Motor unit to jointly explore the application of humanoid robots and unmanned logistics vehicles in industrial manufacturing and warehousing.

UQI, UBTech's smart logistics subsidiary, recently signed an agreement with Honda Trading, marking another step for UBTech in expanding its industrial automation footprint.

Honda Trading is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Honda, primarily engaged in global trade related to motor vehicle production.

Leveraging Honda Trading's service experience and industry understanding in the manufacturing supply chain, the partnership will open up potential application scenarios for UBTech's Walker series of embodied AI humanoid robots within Honda Trading's supply chain, according to a Tuesday announcement by UBTech.

The two parties plan to introduce smart robots into Honda Trading's supply chain system when conditions mature.

UQI is dedicated to building an end-to-end unmanned logistics system through the collaboration of humanoid robots and autonomous vehicles.

The two sides will carry out deep collaboration in areas including the promotion of embodied AI humanoid robots, regional distribution of industrial mobile robots and unmanned logistics vehicles, and joint technological innovation, the announcement said.

UBTech is currently working to push its embodied intelligence technology from the laboratory to large-scale commercial applications.

In 2025, the company's full-size humanoid robots generated 820 million yuan in revenue, with over 80% of the robots deployed in industrial scenarios such as automobile manufacturing and smart logistics.

UBTech reached a strategic partnership with Siemens last month to help accelerate its production target of manufacturing more than 10,000 robots annually.

In addition, the company recently announced it is offering up to 124 million yuan ($18 million) to recruit a chief scientist for embodied intelligence.

In 2025, China's humanoid robot industry had surpassed 140 companies, with over 330 humanoid robot products released throughout the year.
