China is building production lines capable of rapidly mass-producing humanoid robots, as the sector stands on the eve of a further boom.

China's first automated humanoid robot production line with an annual capacity of over 10,000 units officially opened in Guangdong on March 29, marking a new stage of mass production for the country's humanoid robot industry, local media Securities Times reported on Monday.

The production line, jointly built by Dongfang Precision and Leju Robotics, can roll out one humanoid robot every 30 minutes.

By adopting a digital management system, the line's production efficiency has increased by 50% compared to traditional manufacturing models, according to the report.

To ensure product consistency and reliability, the robots undergo simulation tests covering 41 working conditions before leaving the factory.

The milestone occurs during an explosive growth period for the robotics industry.

The number of humanoid robot companies in China exceeded 140 in 2025, with more than 330 humanoid robot products released throughout the year, according to a report by state broadcaster CCTV earlier this month.

Other major tech players are also accelerating their footprint in the robotics sector. EV maker Xpeng aims to achieve mass production of advanced humanoid robots by the end of 2026.

In January, Xpeng announced the completion of its first ET1 version robot prototype developed using automotive standards, taking a crucial step toward the mass production of high-level humanoid robots this year.

In 2025, China's humanoid robot industry had surpassed 140 companies, with over 330 humanoid robot products released throughout the year.
