- ByteDance has launched its AI video model Seedance 2.0 in overseas markets via CapCut, implementing strict copyright protection measures.
- The global release follows a previous delay caused by Hollywood copyright disputes, coinciding with OpenAI's recent announcement to shut down rival Sora.

ByteDance's AI video model Seedance 2.0 has entered the international market through its overseas video editing software CapCut.
CapCut announced Thursday on X the launch of its new CapCut Video Studio feature, which supports the Dreamina Seedance 2.0 audio-video model.
The service is currently live in Africa, South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, available to users on CapCut's app, desktop, and web platforms.
More countries and regions are expected to gain access to the feature soon. The model allows users to generate videos up to 15 seconds long without reference images.
The global rollout marks a significant advancement for ByteDance in the AI video sector. Previously, the overseas launch plan was reportedly shelved due to copyright disputes with Hollywood studios.
ByteDance said that Seedance 2.0 is equipped with strict safeguards designed to prevent the generation of content that violates safety policies or infringes on intellectual property rights.
During the initial rollout phase, certain features of user accounts will be restricted. For example, the system prohibits users from generating new videos using images or videos containing real human faces.
CapCut will also add visible watermarks to AI-generated content and embed C2PA content credentials to help the public identify such material.
ByteDance previously disclosed the API pricing for the model, with pure video generation costing 46 yuan ($6.66) per million tokens.
This means generating a 15-second video will consume about 308,880 tokens, bringing the cost of pure video generation to about 1 yuan per second.
Just a day before ByteDance advanced its global strategy, the industry landscape saw a massive shift. Rival OpenAI announced the shutdown of its once-popular Sora video generation app.
OpenAI also terminated a landmark $1 billion partnership agreement with Disney. This reflects the massive computing resources and power required to run video generation services.
