Chinese technology giant Huawei today announced that Huawei Assistant will be the first virtual smartphone assistant to support Esports "cards" with the latest scores, results, and news from major gaming events, leagues, and tournaments around the world.
Huawei is partnering with live score app developer SofaScore to integrate its new Esports discipline into the assistant, according to a press release sent to CnTechPost.
Listed on AppGallery, SofaScore specializes in detailed sports data and analysis, providing real-time data on sporting events, leagues, and tournaments from around the world.
It is available in over 30 languages, covering more than 20 disciplines, and has over 20 million active users per month.
The new Esports feature will provide Huawei smartphone users with all the information they need to stay up-to-date on the three major leagues:
- CS:GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive)
- Dota 2 (Defend the Ancients 2)
- LoL (League of Legends)
By integrating with Huawei Assistant, users will be able to swipe left to access the SofaScore Esports "card" which, along with many other smart cards, provides useful notifications and alerts based on individual needs and specific usage scenarios.
Users can specifically mark Esports games, teams, or topics of interest to them for tracking, and the AI alerts feature in Huawei Assistant will ensure users receive results and real-time alerts for these selections.
SofaScore will also provide links to live streams of matches in the Cards feature, which can be displayed on multiple platforms based on league, tournament, category, or tournament owner.
"Interest in Esports is booming, and has now even accelerated in part thanks to many people spending more time at home," said Derek Yu, Vice President of Huawei CEE & Nordic at Huawei Consumer BG.
Gamers, enthusiasts, and occasional viewers increasingly want to be able to follow and watch Esports easily on their cell phones, especially the younger generation, many of whom are located in the Nordic countries and Eastern and Central Europe, according to Yu.
