Kuaishou testing Clubhouse-like app

TikTok's local competitor Kuaishou released a Clubhouse-like app called Spaceship on March 5, according to tech media outlet Tech Planet.

The app is in internal testing and uses an invitation mechanism. It focuses on community party features and will hold an event for independent musicians on March 6, the report said.

More than 30 Chinese vendors have developed Clubhouse-like products, including Xiaomi's MiTalk.

Chinese live-streaming platform Inke launched a competitor to Clubhouse on Feb. 11, and financial information service provider Jingdata launched Capital coffee a few weeks ago.

About 270 companies in China have launched voice social products, with more than 20% of them registering more than RMB 10 million ($1.5 million) in the capital, according to data provider Tianyancha.

Tencent Investment, Baidu Investment, Primavera Capital, 5Y Capital, and more than 50 VC/PEs have entered the field of audio social, according to data released by Chinaventure.com.cn.
